Simultaneous interpreters transfer what is said into the target language practically simultaneously. Due to the strain, they always work in a team and take turns approximately every 25 minutes.
Simultaneous interpreting can be carried out either with the help of an interpreting booth, a tour guide system or online conference providers (e.g. Zoom, skype, etc.). At larger events, booths are the best choice for physical conferences because of better intelligibility for the audience.

Consecutive interpreters use a special note-taking technique to interpret speech passages of up to 10 minutes after the speaker has finished speaking.
This technique is often applied during dinner speeches or conversations.
However, you should be aware that the subsequent speech part by the interpreter doubles the time of the event, which should be taken into account for the planning.
Liaison interpreting is a subcategory of consecutive interpreting and is used, for example, in meetings or negotiations.
